WEST OTTER LAKE ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING AUGUST 27, 2011

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Weldon Baas, John Williamson, Alice Bond, Fred Nelson, Bill Roberts, Mickie Hutchinson, Terry Wooster, Don Harris and Sue Alford

ASSOCIATION MEMBERS PRESENT:     22

Weldon opened the meeting at 9 am.  He addressed the low attendance with 178 invitations going out in the mail.

SECRETARIES REPORT: Mickie Hutchinson read the minutes from the Spring Meeting and they were approved

TREASURERS REPORT:  Bill Roberts reported $1570.09 in the CD and $3516.87 in the checking acct.  His report was approved

WATER REPORT: Given by John Williamson.  John reported that our water quality was good all summer.

CLOTHING SALES: Report given by John Williamson.  We have shirts on display at Papa Ducks.  Sales have been slow this summer.

John also gave thanks to Dana Slack for the great job maintaining the website.  Weldon Baas is now the WEBMASTER.  John also gave thanks to Helen Miller who keeps our phone directory updated.  Helen brought “add on” pages for our directory to the meeting.

NAME THE OTTER:  Oscar became the name of our Otter on our outer-ware and Marguerite Cook won the Name the Otter contest

Weldon asked that we all stand and introduce ourselves so that we could put a name to a face.

BY-LAWS: Article II Section 2 B We decided to change this line to read: Only one vote may be cast per owner household, or lake property address, regardless of whether the property is owned singly or jointly and regardless of the number of properties owned.  Voted on and passed

NEW BUSINESS:  Dana Slack presented a petition from NIPSCO to see if anyone on Lane 110 and surrounding lanes of West Otter Lake would be interested in having natural gas piped in.  Lake Missionary Church is applying to have gas run to the church and this would be a opportune time to get lake neighbors on board and help the church fray costs.  Dana enlisted help in circulating the petitions around the lake.

DUES:  It was suggested that we raise our dues to $30 from $25.  With the association having to pay for lake spraying and losing our grant money, it was felt that we needed the boost to our treasury.  Voted on and passed.  Don Harris addressed the body about the audit performed on our bank accounts when Mark Henshaw stepped down and Bill Roberts became the new treasurer.  He said that our accounts were in good order.  He also said he was amazed at the amount of “unsolicited donations” that came to our Association.  There were families who really cared about what happened with our lake.

PERKS:  John Williamson reported that two new perks were available to Association members.  C & S Pest Control would give Association members a discount.  If you used them this fall they would honor the same price next year.  On site shrink wrap of boats by Curtis Sherrell (?) at 833-9775.  If 5 or more boats from our lake were wrapped the cost would be held at $8.50 per foot.

AV EQUIPMENT:  Weldon asked if anyone had a contact that we might find a good price on a multimedia projector.  He also suggested a donation would be nice.

CRIME WATCH: Mickie Hutchinson reported she had spoken with Sheriff Tim Troyer and he had a warning he wanted passed on.  There has been a rash of car break- ins in the lake areas.  Not only are they targeting open cars but also breaking windows.  He suggested that no valuable objects be visible in the cars.  Items taken include: GPS, Cell phones, change, money, I Pads, MP3 players and lap top computers.  Jim Mudrack reported that there is a silver Buick Regal with a dent in the drivers side door, in the trailer park attempting to get into the cars and he has chased them off.

ELECTIONS:  The current slate of Officers were voted in for next year also, Weldon Baas- President, John Williamson -VP, Mickie Hutchinson- Secretary, and Bill Roberts-Treasurer

Board members elected: Fred Nelson, Terry Edgar, Ron Grisez and Jodi Kruger filling in the rest of Dan Oberkisers term for 2012.

The Meeting adjourned at 10:10 and we went on to enjoy the potluck picnic held by the Lake Association.

Respectfully submitted,

Mickie Hutchinson
